The Best LinkedIn Optimisation Tools in 2026 (Free and Paid, Compared)

By Personal Job Coach team

Most LinkedIn advice tells you what to change but not how to check it. We looked at four tools that actually review a profile line by line: what each one checks, what's free, and what needs a paid plan before you get a straight answer.

Personal Job Coach: A Free Score, Then a Fact-Checked Rewrite

Our LinkedIn Score needs no account at all: upload the PDF export of your profile and it comes back scored out of 100 across four axes, with every finding quoting the exact text on your profile rather than a generic tip. That same read carries straight into Career Strategy if you decide to go further. The separate LinkedIn Optimisation tool is the one that writes the profile for you: it builds your headline, About section, experience copy and skills list from your CV and your career pitch, splits skills into ones pulled from your CV and ones it suggests with the fact behind each, and runs a fact-check pass that strips out any claim your CV doesn't actually support. Every section stays editable, and Copy takes the kept version straight to your clipboard. Generating it needs either a one-off 4.99 euro payment, which stays on your account permanently and works in any supported language, or a subscription at 19.99 euros a month; once a profile exists, viewing, editing and copying it stays free.

Resume Worded: Free to Try, But You Need an Account

Resume Worded's LinkedIn Review is free, though "free" here means you still sign up with an email, Google or Facebook account and confirm your address before you see anything. Once in, it benchmarks your profile against what it calls top profiles using its own scoring, gives you a headline and summary rewrite to compare against your own, and links out to separate headline and summary generators. What it doesn't publish is the detail: the exact criteria behind the score, how many times you can run it, or whether a deeper version of the review sits behind Resume Worded's separate Pro plan, which otherwise prices its resume features from $49 a month.

Jobscan: Built Around the Job Description You're Targeting

Jobscan's LinkedIn Optimization starts from a different angle: you paste your profile URL and at least three job descriptions, and it scores how closely your headline, summary and experience line up with what those postings actually ask for, then suggests the missing skills to work in. That makes it the most job-specific of the four, useful if you already know exactly which roles you're chasing, less useful if you're still figuring that out. Jobscan doesn't say on the tool's own page which parts are free and which need a paid plan; its wider Premium subscription, covering the rest of the product, runs $49.95 a month or $89.95 a quarter for unlimited use.

Teal: A Checklist Inside the Chrome Extension, Not a Standalone Score

Teal's LinkedIn review only works through its Chrome extension, and only on your own LinkedIn profile page: open the extension there and it lists a number of suggested actions to work through, then lets you recheck once you've made changes. There's no numeric score, just a running list of what to fix. Teal's own help page doesn't say whether this review sits inside the free plan or needs Teal+, which otherwise costs $9 a week, billed weekly, every 30 days or every 90 days.

Which One Should You Pick?

If you want a number with no account and no commitment, start with LinkedIn Score. If you're happy to sign up with an email, Resume Worded's review is a reasonable second opinion with its own benchmarking. If you already know the roles you're targeting, Jobscan's keyword match against a real job description is the most specific of the four, though its unlimited plan is also the most expensive. And if a score and a list of suggestions aren't the problem, if what you actually need is the profile written, LinkedIn Optimisation is the one built for that: your headline, About section, experience and skills, generated from your CV and checked against it, ready to copy straight onto your profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a free way to check my LinkedIn profile?

Yes, more than one. Our LinkedIn Score needs no account at all, just your exported LinkedIn PDF. Resume Worded's LinkedIn Review is also free, but needs a confirmed email, Google or Facebook account. Jobscan's scan works without paying up to a point, then asks for its Premium plan once you want it unlimited.

Do these tools rewrite my profile, or just score it?

Mostly just score it. Resume Worded, Jobscan and Teal each point out what to change and leave the rewriting to you. LinkedIn Optimisation is the one that writes the headline, About section and experience copy for you, fact-checked against your CV, with every section editable before you copy it across.
