The Best Job Application Tracker Apps in 2026 (Free and Paid, Compared)

By Personal Job Coach team

A job tracker only helps if you keep filling it in, and plenty of people give up on theirs a few weeks into a search, right when the applications start piling up faster than the replies. So the best tracker is usually the one that asks the least of you on a busy day. We compared six options people actually use, our own included, on what the free plan covers, what you pay after that, and how much typing each one expects from you.

Personal Job Coach: Each Job Comes With Its Application Tools

Our Job Tracker gives each job its own workspace. Every job you add gets a status (saved, applied, interviewing, offer, rejected), the date you applied and a follow-up reminder, and it also gets the tools for that application, all working from the job description you saved: a gap analysis against the ad, a tailored CV, a cover letter, a company briefing and a mock interview. Jobs reach it through Job Radar, which collects the listings you save with our Chrome extension and the job alerts you forward by email, scores each one against your profile and shows a role once even when three boards posted it.

The free plan has a real limit, and it's worth knowing before you start: you get one job, with the whole toolkit, and from the second job it's a subscription at €19.99 a month, cancel any time. If all you want is a free list of fifty applications, Teal or a spreadsheet will give you that for nothing.

Teal: Unlimited Free Tracking and a Chrome Extension

Teal's free plan doesn't cap how many jobs you track, and its Chrome extension saves listings from LinkedIn, Indeed and more than 40 other job boards, so you're not copying details across by hand. Each application gets notes, a status and goals, plus one email template per stage of the process. Tracking stays free whatever you do. Teal+, billed every 7, 30 or 90 days ($13, $29 or $79), is optional, and what it adds sits on the CV side: unlimited keyword matching against the job description, unlimited AI help with bullets, summaries and cover letters, and more templates. The site is in English only, which matters if you're applying in French or Spanish. We go into the differences with our own toolkit in Personal Job Coach vs Teal.

Huntr: A Visual Board, Free Up to 100 Jobs

Huntr is built around a board where you drag each job from one stage to the next. Its Chrome extension clips a listing with its description, salary and location in one click, and it can autofill application forms. Next to each job you can keep recruiter and hiring manager contacts, interview details and private notes, and there's a map view showing how far each company is from home (handier than it sounds when you're comparing commutes). The free plan isn't a trial: it stays free with no time limit, tracks up to 100 jobs at once and comes with a few AI credits. Pro costs $40 a month, or less per month if you pay $90 a quarter or $160 for six months. Like Teal, it's in English only.

Kickresume: A Free Tracker Linked to the CV You Sent

Kickresume's tracker is free with no limit on the number of applications, and each one stays linked to the exact CV and cover letter you sent, which saves you that awkward moment when a recruiter calls and you can't remember which version they're holding. Its tracker page doesn't mention a browser extension, so expect to add jobs yourself. It makes the most sense if you already build your CVs in Kickresume.

Indeed My Jobs: Already There If You Apply on Indeed

If most of your applications go through Indeed, you already have a tracker. My Jobs sorts roles into Saved, Applied, Interviews and Archived, and anything you apply for on Indeed lands in Applied on its own. Applications you send on an employer's own website aren't recorded, though, so you have to move those across yourself, and nothing from LinkedIn or other boards shows up there. It works well as a backup, less well as your only system.

A Spreadsheet: Free, Flexible and Easy to Abandon

A Google Sheet or an Excel file costs nothing and does exactly what you tell it to. The columns that earn their place are company, role, link to the ad, date applied, status, contact, next follow-up date and notes. The catch is that every update is typed by hand, there's no reminder unless you set one up, and the job description you'll want to reread before the interview has often disappeared from the board by then, so paste it into the sheet the day you apply. Our guide to tracking your job applications goes through what to record and when.

Which One Should You Pick?

If you want a free list and don't mind typing, a spreadsheet does the job, and Teal does it with less typing thanks to its extension and no cap on jobs. If a visual board and contact tracking help you think, Huntr's free plan is generous up to 100 jobs. If you apply mostly on Indeed, start with My Jobs before adding anything else. And if you'd rather the tracker did part of the work on each application (the gap analysis, the tailored CV, the cover letter, the interview practice), that's what ours is built for, and since the first job is free, you can run the whole routine on a real ad before deciding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a free job application tracker with no limit?

Yes. Teal's free plan and Kickresume's tracker both say they don't cap the number of jobs, Indeed's My Jobs is free, and a spreadsheet has no limit at all. Huntr's free plan stops at 100 jobs, and ours covers one job with the full toolkit.

Is a spreadsheet good enough to track job applications?

For a short search with a handful of applications, yes. Past twenty or so, the typing and the missing reminders start to cost you follow-ups, and a tracker that saves jobs from the board in one click usually pays for itself in time.
